A passionate environmentalist and human rights campaigner, attorney Tiyani Behanzin is at the forefront for cannabis legalization and decriminalization within the Caribbean.Mr. Behanzin is a former District Magistrate from the Commonwealth of Dominica, appointed by the Judicial and Legal Services Commission of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, and has tried more than 5,000 cases. He has been called to the Bar in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Commonwealth of Dominica, St. Lucia and the British Overseas Territory of Montserrat.A succinct, public educational speaker, he presents at schools, colleges and universities across the Caribbean. He is the host of “Law on Q” on Q95 Radio, WICE in Dominica and is a regular contributor on Caribbean television and radio.He has organized peace conferences to help stop indiscriminate gun violence on Dominica and participates in a prisoner rehabilitation program at Dominica State Prison. He is also a founding member of the Waitukubuli Ecological Foundation (WEF), helping to secure funding for the construction of a national trail in Dominica- the longest within the Caribbean.His educational credentials includes: a BA from Concordia University (Montreal); LLB (Hons) (City, University of London, UK); Masters of Law (University of Nottingham, UK) with specialization in International Environmental Law/UN Biodiversity regime/Human Rights/Public International Law/the Use of Force; Bar Vocational Course and Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Legal Skills from Inns of Court School of Law (UK); Certified Practice Teacher in Social Work (UK governing body for Education) and L.E.C. from Hugh Wooding Law School (Republic of Trinidad and Tobago). Mr. Behanzin is also an accredited member of the London based Chartered Institute of Arbitration (UK).
